PowerPlay Episode Recap #5
January 29th, 2007
Although this week’s taping was a bit of a drive from Buffalo, Sabres fans still made it out to see Buffalo Sabres’ aggressive right winger, Adam Mair, who currently holds the team high for penalty minutes. Mair received a lift from PowerPlay sponsor Aces Limousine to The Hearth at 12249 Olean Rd. in Chaffee, NY.
Adam Mair’s hometown is just north of the Queen City in Hamilton, Ontario. What many people didn’t know was that Mair started his career in Toronto. He was then traded to Los Angeles, which is where we acquired him for Erik Rasmussen in 2003. Last season, he missed 40% of the regular season games, returning strong in the playoffs and starting the season off on the line with Paul Gaustad and Andrew Peters.
Jeremy White started his questions this week asking about Mair’s feelings on Gaustad’s injury and how the team feels as a whole about him being out for the remainder of the season. Mair explained that the team as a whole is really focused on playing their best games of hockey and they just have to accept it and let Paul recover to the fullest. The famous Ovechkin-Briere situation came up when Jeremy asked him what it was like to be in a hockey fight. He told the crowd that after watching Ovechkin take down Briere, it was an instinctual thing for both him and Gaustad to go and ‘correct’ the situation.
Powerplay with Adam Mair will air on myTV Buffalo on Saturday February 17, 2007 at 6pm. Come out to the next show on Monday February 19, 2007, when will have Sabres’ Captain Daniel Briere. We’ll also have special guest Flyin’ Blind Blues Band performing at Attitudes in Lockport, NY at 616 West Ave.
